Kate is an artist and teacher. She works predominantly in textiles, producing a wide range of works, from animals and landscapes to unusual night sky pieces embedded with fiber optic lighting. Kate received a textile degree and worked in the industry before teaching art and design technology in Berkshire and Oxfordshire. Kate left teaching in July 2018 to become a self-employed artist. Now, she spends her time creating new works, teaching workshops, giving talks and fulfilling commissions.
Kate's work is inspired by the wildlife and landscapes near to where she lives. She enjoys sketching and taking photographs. She hand-dyes much of the fabric used in her raw edge appliqué pictures which are finished with hand and machine stitching. Making art is a complete passion and probably the most important thing in her life right now!
