BEGINNING ENGLISH SMOCKING with Meg Ross

The first class will cover all the basics of English smocking! We’ll review fabric selection, pleating, patterns, threads, basic stitches plus picture smocking and some basic garment construction tips. We’ll practice on a sampler and prepare the front and back skirt panels to prepare for the children’s dress pattern required for class. In our second class, you’ll learn some decorative smocking stitches, basic construction techniques and we begin to finish the project. You will be using the skills taught in this class to make the pattern "

She is an active member of SAGA - The Smocking Arts Guild of America and enjoys both learning new skills as well as sharing the love of smocking with others. She is a retired preschool teacher and is now enjoying sewing for her grandson and soon to be grandaughter. |
